Warriors seem to be the "helpless" class.
Well, I enjoy tanking, so I've been into playing a Warrior in Vanguard.
During the beta, I did the L 35 event and got a bunch of good gear, and went and tried killing things. I didn't do too good, but I chalked it up to not playing it right, because there were sooo many skills I didn't know which to pick at L 35. I couldn't kill mobs 3 levels below me.
So now I'm trying it again, and I'm L 12... and I still seem to be the helpless class. I can kill things, but I have 0 survivability... other classes, like Paladin, at least have heals in a pinch, with me, one little thing goes wrong and I'm dead meat.
I got lucky and my friend found me a 13dps Axe that I started using at L 6.. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had a vendor weapon...
I seem to rely on crits, if I don't get a good crit, then I'm screwed. I don't think there are going to be a lot of warriors for end game anytime soon. At least if we had heal pots or something to allow for multiple aggro.
Also, for aggro, the taunts I have take forever to work, why are taunts so slow? they should be INSTANT. Either they land or they don't It is ridiculous.
IMO warriors need some loving, or something. No CC, no heals, no nuthing. Why even play one? I think I'm rerolling. What are your experiences with warrior class?

Warriors seem to be the dps of the heavy fighters, (at least while soloing in offensive stance). They don't really have a back-up plan, but you just have to be extra cautious at the start of a fight.
One thing I can say for sure; it is not a good idea to base class choice on low level performance, unless you only plan on playing to a low level. Classes can fluctuate in potency quite a bit as they level and sometimes the biggest turn around comes at the level cap when high-end itemization is the only means of advancement.
My recommendation is to just play whatever is the most fun, but not jump ship too quickly. If you're looking for high soloability, take the plunge and make a dps class. Sure, finding a group might not be quite as easy. It won't be impossible, though, and the rest of the time you're playing you'll be having more fun.

I think warriors have a nice balance of stances, dps and hate holding power. I agree that they seem helpless when they solo but alot of classes are like this. Casters get snares resisted = smash. Healers get stunned = smash. DPS class gets adds = smash. Not always but that seemed to be my experience from beta.
Warriors are good in groups IMO and that's what matters most I think.

I do not speak from direct experience, as I actually played a paladin in Beta and will do so at launch also, but a guild mate of mine has extensive warrior experience. I can tell you that he has never mentioned anything of the sort you are. It is true that you need to level up some. IMHO in Beta I learned that warriors are the best at aggro control and are thus very good at tanking. I also know that my friend solo'ed quite often without issue with his warrior.

Well thats good to know.. now that I'm l 12 i get some nice skills makes a good bit of difference.. I guess the fact that my friend leveled a necro solo to 10 in about 1/2 the time I leveled made me groan.

warriors are NOT helpless. Are they the BEST at solo'ing? No. Are they perfectly capable of taking care of themselves and leveling up solo? Yes.

Warriors are not meant to solo heavily but if you're careful you can do it. I think warriors are supposed to be dependent on groups and for me it is very easy to find them. Everyone needs a tank and hardly anyone has them for their groups.

Warriors life consist of one basic rule....Don't bite off more then you can chew. Or find a pocket Priest like i did )p. I personally am loving my warrior the way he is. Me and my wife at lvl 15 can take out mobs meant for full groups so i can't complain to much. Gear seems to be the key to our survival so spend that cash and you will enjoy more survivalility.

It is ANNOYING that if I do not get big crits, I can die easily.. its too inconsistant.. that is my biggest gripe... I guess that is what I get for going halfling/dex.
I guess helpless is too strong a word, now that I have a few decent skills it is better, but wow talk about skill reliant.

I play a warrior in the upper teens and I'd say we are not as horrible as people make us out to be. Soloing is kinda crappy, but in a group you really stand out. The only thing that I've been having trouble with is keeping hate on more than about 5 mobs. All of my taunts so far have been single target so I have to rely on Rescue and Withdraw. Perhaps not the best solo class, but as a tank I think our mitigation through defensive stance is quite ridiculous compared to the other tanks allowing us to take a lot more damage.

Yea, I agree... I wish they'd alter the way you taunt for warrior, it is very difficult to taunt multiple mobs, but then I'm low level...

Not having an AOE taunt is kinda rough, but we get one later on. Also, taunts dont use endurance like the other skills, so cycling through all the aggroed mobs and spamming taunts doesnt take long.

You chose unwisely. ANYONE that wants to be a little hairy footed stunty and then complains that he isn't a good warrior should be back in the kitchen baking pies (which is all halflings are good for btw).
And ALL the classes are very skill reliant.
I am sure getting a healer to group with you won't be a problem.
Most times I am looking for a good tank for dungeon delving as NOT having one and doing multiple 4 and 5 DOTS is a pita to downright impossible without one...

Warriors are not helpless solo. Here is what I find to be my best setup.
Defensive stance, sword and board. Stuns are awesome. Need a shield for shield bash, and our counterattack that stuns. Spam taunting strike, and your damage will be insane.

I am a level 18 lesser giant warrior and I have no problem soloing. The key is to find the right mob to do and have good gears. You won't go very far with cheap weapon. Check broker often, people sell good dps crafted swords for a few silvers.
I find that when I solo, high dmg 2h weapon ends the battle quicker. It's always offensive stance for me.
First, use the lvl 14 shot ability to shoot it from as far away as possible (35m), after that you can use the range attack twice before the mob reach you. (just by doing that I knock off 300-400s dmg off the mob before the fight)
Second, use that 1min +10% dmg (power attack?) at beginning. You will notice your ATTACK in character menu go up 10%. (and it drains mana only)
Third, the key is to kick as often as you can, it has a good chance to get a critical hit and trigger the chain. And if no critical hit, use devasting blow and brutal strike. When you are all out on endurance, use that 4s stun. Then wait with just normal attack and no ability in that 4s. After the 4s, you kick and repeat again (should have about 30-40% endurance now). Doing this I can solo lvl 16 3 dots ant outside ant cave in renton keep at level 16.
I do have good gear tho (625ac unbuff), and it will ALWAYS help if you ask people to buff you up. Give it a try. To speed leveling up. I eat an apple right away after battle to regen health quickly.
It is always a good idea to team up with a healer and you will shine. Little down time and almost no chance of dieing.
