No you're right, but there is a someone that has to verify, and make sure all the keys are accounted for, and then someone who has to make sure they're allocated to the proper places and tracked, on top of keeping in communication with SOE, distributors, Fileplanet, Eurogamer etc. theres a lot more behind the scenes work than some may think.

So to make a batch of 20k keys it's not simply a matter of running the script. Hope that clarifies

They can very well run out of keys, we have to supply them with them and while they are "just lines of text" they take time, especially to create tens of thousands.

We resupply them when we can, but it may be a few days. Thanks for your patience all

True, however, if your friend is involved in large monetary exchanges without in game payment (appropriate item, etc.) and is involved in activity that is driven to purely amass wealth, then you could be banned for buying gold as it is fully within our right.

So technically, no it is not against our policy, however, if you are linked through just cause to your friend who is found to be a gold seller then your account could be terminated.

Just to let you know I have read every single post in this thread , and I understand where you're coming from, and your feelings about it.

However, since the beginning it has always been the plan to close these forums down, for the reasons I've mentioned above, we have always felt very strongly about the community, and while it may seem we're tearing it apart you must realize that the community will change, and go their own ways regardless if we keep these forums or not.

The only thing these forums would achieve is to house all the different groups of people in one place, where many of them will cause friction between one another. These groups will form in game, they will form on class sites, or server forums.

We are giving the community back to the community, we are fully empowering our games community to go in the direction they wish, not in the direction we want it to, under our house rules.

While the affiliates have guidelines they are mostly performance, being, how much do they provide to the global community. The program is also to help players find "safe" sites that wont spread misinformation or dwell on rumors, to give streamlined access to the developers (Sigil) and allow for an easier flow of communication between us and the community.

I know it looks like we're kicking you out on the street, or that we don't want our community, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Community members have already established new sites, community members who helped to found this community, and we look forward to welcoming those members who usher in the post launch community and establish sites of their own.

The program will grow and change, but Sigil will always be there to talk about current issues, or what our favorite cartoons were when we were kids, or how badly the bears will lose this Weekend

Just as the pilgrims established their own homes and stayed in cities they too spread out to make america, and while New York, San Diego, and Chicago might all be different cities, they're still America and make up one country. It's our responsibility to interact and communicate with the community, but the community is what it makes of itself, and regardless if we have central forums, or forums on 30 different sites that fact remains the same. In game we're all one community, but with different homes that we can call our own, and feel proud to do so.

While you're right players wont collectively agree, there can be a general social agreement that it is bad, and its the "wrong" thing to do. Just as we as civilized people generally agree that stealing is "wrong". We do have police though, to enforce this when some people don't abide by the general acceptance that some things are universally "wrong" or "right". We have GM's in game for those who refuse to abide by our policy, buying gold or items in game is illegal in our world and there are consequences.

And why would a game company care, or want to stop it? Besides the fact that we play these games, and enjoy playing them as much as the next man, it can be simplified in terms of money.

These are subscription based games, a majority of revenue is made from subscriptions, its what makes this market so profitable and it's why theres tons of people trying to get a piece of the pie. If we make it so that a player either has to quit playing or buy money, and therefore pay us to play on our servers and pay someone else for the cash, well most people are just going to stop playing altogether.

When enough players quit there isn't anyone left for the Secondary Market to sell to, so they leave. We lose money, or have to go as far as shutting the game down.

The longer Vanguard runs, the more money we can make, so why would we want to voluntarily allow our players to be forced to buy money or quit? We want people to play as long as they want.

The faster we allow our economy to inflate, the shorter our half-life.

These are games, and real money should have no baring on that status and well being of a character once you are inside the game. It is for entertainment and when you allow people to become better than someone in game because they have more money, then you have not only failed your game, you have failed your players and the community that they have created.
