0 Vanguards future according to SOE block Party S I L K Y    V E N O M

Hey guys, Andok is just trying to help out here. I’ve been to lots of these kind of events and its really easy to get things mixed up – for lots of reasons. The fact that he’s trying to get info for everyone else should be appreciated.

And mamamccan – I saw you and your husband leaving right after I got there (I was only there for the last hour or so) from across the parking lot, so I just missed you unfortunately.

Bear with me here, and I apologize if it's been answered already. Re-Launch = servers are wiped and everyone starts over, correct? If so, why am I still playing this game? I can put up with the low player pop, the CTDs, the bugs everywhere... But they are going to wipe my characters before the year's out? Someone tell me that's not true.

Servers will NOT be wiped. So no worries, that’s not true.

What does a relaunch involve? Is it just advertising?

From the active player’s perspective, more or less. All the additions, fixes and tweaks we’ll be making folks who are playing currently will be there for as they happen.

Ahh, I think that's where some of the misunderstanding came from then. Your first post said there would be an expansion released on Q1, 2008 -- which won't be happening.

Not sure who most of this info is coming from, but I think one way or another there was a bit lost in translation:

Seems SOE is planning a relaunch prior to the end of the year, the next two live updates should have the game completely (or as close as possible) to where it was meant to be at release.

Certainly we'll have lots of great stuff in the next two live updates, but we're not stopping with two. We've got many beyond that planned out already. Really too early to give solid time frames for them right now though.

Quote:
Also one of the programmers stated that what we see in Telon now is actually only 25% of the content they have ready for the game and plan on releasing an expansion sometime 1st quarter 2008 AFTER the re-launch.

There are currently no plans to release an expansion in Q1 2008. (Or at all, for that matter -- we haven't announced anything about an expansion yet, not sure where this one came from)

Quote:
Included in the expansion is going to be basically strictly raid content, and all of it apparently high end, or a vast majority of it. So much high end that they will more than likely raise the level cap to 60 with either that or the following expansion. There will also be more raid content added prior to the expansion as a part of the relaunch and this means more than just APW.

Again, no expansion plans for right now. We will be adding more and more raid content though via game updates.

Quote:
A whole new continent will be added with a free live update that includes nothing but raids. It will be a raidfest continent.

Lots of raid content planned, but I don't know where the new continent part came from. No plans for that at the moment.

Quote:
It also appears that the starting areas will undergo a major revamp (Or have been revamped, not certain) and this too will be added prior to the relaunch.

Starting areas are actually some of our strongest content at the moment. I think this may have been referring to the "trial island" which Dave mentioned in some of his posts a while back -- which is focused on the newbie experience.

Quote:
Guild Halls are coming into the game and there will be four different guild halls, two qalian and two thestran, both offering medium and large halls. The Thestran ones will look like castles, whereas the Qalian ones will look similar to the Taj Majal.

There are Kojanese guild halls as well.

New Targonor crashes should be fixed in a build sometime next week -- as for the dupes, most should be fixed with this build. However, if folks ever find one and report it to us -- people who report dupe bugs that can be reproduced first will be rewarded, we will make sure of that.

As for folks who abuse and don't report them... well, we can track those people pretty easily. So, not so much rewards coming their way

0 Question for Glip: Intended Character Advancement? S I L K Y    V E N O M
Mar 22, 2007 - 08:53 PM - by Glip the Gnome
Without getting into too much detail about the whole process -- we can look at data from individual characters, rather than just averages from accounts. So we'd be able to get the data we needed from your main without alts distorting it.

Hope that answers your question!

response

of course they will probably just say.."at the time in question it was only for the test server.. all we meant was to say it wont go live yet"

We doubled adventuring kill experience on the test server because it doesn't have critical mass and its a lot harder to find groups there currently. The change in experience for live is noticeable, but its NOT double. While these are both issues related to experience, they are completely separate from one another. The double exp on test is not what is going to live. Hope that helps clear it up some!
