It's actually a lot more detailed than that. Consider a static spawn on one end of the extreme and a complex set of encounter setments (AES) on the other. In-between are a lot of other options the designers have to make the dungeon more dynamic, less predictable, and to hopefully reduce camping where you just sit there in one spot.

Tagad could probably comment with more detail if he feels we're ready to at this point -- his call.

I also assume the OP didn't necessarily mean only good places to camp. What a good dungeon needs are places to do battle, and the places to recoup. This is true whether the game involves a lot of camping or has a more dynamic encounter system.
