My favorite 70s bands... definitely not my favorite era by any means however.

Joy Division
Television
Can
Roxy Music
Kraftwerk
Wire
Pink Floyd
Suicide

About time someone mentioned Can, and if you dont know who they are, you'd be doing yourself a favor by checking them out. You could add Faust to that genre too.

Joy Division is another nice pick but the bulk of thier work was 79-80. Kind of a borderline 70's band.

No punks mentioned MC5?

Huh? Pink Floyds first album was released 1967. Dark Side of the Moon, concidered by many, one the greatest albums of all time was 1974. Pink Floyd is definitely a 70's band.

Led Zeppelin I & II were both 1969, everything else was 70's with the their last original recording released in 79.
