0 C++ to C# is it worth the migration? O F F I C I A L    V A N G U A R D    F O R U M S

I think the answer really depends on what kind of software you're developing.

My experience with c# is really limited.. we've got one tool here that uses c# and one that is win32 based (as it needs to have a window that uses our renderer). I've mostly just been modifying the c# tool when necessary, which doesn't really require really *learning* c#, but rather just copying the structure of the code that is already in place.

That said, as I'm sure you know, the first programming language that you learn is the hard one. After that, you've got the concepts and it's just a matter of learning the new syntax. (unless you're going from something like logo to lisp). I don't think you'd find it's much of a migration, more like another skill to add to your repertoire.

Like Mindeen said, c# is probably faster for application development in a lot of cases. For game development, I think it definitely has a place in tools. For anything performance critical or more low level, you'll definitely want to stick with c++ imo.
