Chainmail Crafting...

The person who made the chain mail coif seen in the POTD of my desk (chainmail coif on shelf) took about fifty hours to make, working slowly. She taught herself how to do it (not too difficult, plenty of websites for that), and used two needle-nosed pliers to bend the links. She did not rivet them or anything fancy like that.

Watching her work, I can't really see how every-day wear and tear would affect the links. If I were to wear that in battle, I'd still have some confidence that it would turn most sharp things pointed at my head, leaving me concussed rather than pierced.
