Balance that versus the 5-10 tanks and 10-20 clerics. Other classes were just as bad you have one or two and thats all you need. Enchanters are the ultimate buff bot in EQ. It stopped being fun about 2 years ago and became something of a love hate relationship. I loved playing with my guild doing high end content while I simultanously hated playing my class but due to the innane time sinks required for flagging ect. No way could I start another class as get up to raiding with them again.

So I guess my core question is what steps are you going to take to ensure all classes are equally viable. Notice I did not say equally powerful, I just want some assurance that classes will not be regulated to afterthoughts as many were in Everquest.

I can't get into a lot of details right now, but we recognize this issue and very legitimate concern and have been planning on ways to address it from day one (it's up there with camping, etc., for us).

I think the general answer is that if we can identify X number of core roles that are almost always important in various types of gameplay, situations, at various levels, etc., and then make sure each class is effective at one of those roles (and, arguably, mostly as effective as another class for that same role), we should be able to avoid what you've seen and are rightly concerned about. This probably has happened worst in the past with hybrids... the whole specialist vs. generalist siutation, where at higher levels it made more sense to have a group of varied specialists. We are also keenly aware of the issues and dangers there.

More on this later, of course.

thanks,
