For the most part, I agree with you. Nice consensus and summary.

The one thing I disagree with is that LT has not previously wanted the role of team leader. He lets his actions speak more than his words and is content to follow, like he did with Brees at the helm.

Also, I did read one interview with him and Lo Neal and basically they agreed that Rivers has some big shoes to fill in the leadership role compared to Brees. Neal was especially more bitter about the change at QB.

Drew is coming off a shoulder injury and is still in rehab. He wanted quite a bit of guaranteed money, around $10 million, for this season. The Chargers offered about $2 Million guaranteed with incentives that would put him close to his asking price if he took 75 percent of the snaps for the season. He didn't like the deal so walked when the Chargers allowed him to go to Free Agency.

Personally, I think the Chargers should have probably worked a one year deal out with him. If his shoulder injury busts him, he could walk the next year. The Chargers had a ton of money under the salary cap. The GM wants to give Philip Rivers a chance since he drafted him and signed him to a huge contract and so far Rivers has done nothing.

The sad part is the Chargers were so close to having THE TEAM to beat. Brees was the leader on the field and in the locker room. Now, someone else has to step up.
