I like the idea, but it should be done in such a way that people attempting it fail at a point where they can say, "If only I had played my character a little better, I could have gotten farther.." It shouldn't be a hard line, that once you cross it, you have no chance, but instead a gradual increase to something you just can't quite handle.

That isn't easy of course, but I think it would really make the area attractive. Perhaps some encounters that send wave after wave at you, adding one monster each time, until it's just too much.

I think there's a place for a dungeon that can't necessarily be defeated at all or perhaps in its entirety when it's put live, but that eventually it should be conquerable. Mind you, this doesn't make sense for the majority of content, but the 'unobtainable' can make for good gameplay, and then finally overcoming what was impossible all the more rewarding.
