These hilts would be better than the weaponsmith could make on his own, and cheaper than he could buy them from another artificer. He may not be able to make a wide variety, but the ones he can make will be more cost effective.

I see where you are coming from Jim, but it should not be a problem. While there is nothing stopping anyone from leveling up another tradeskill alt, it would not be a quick thing to level up an artificer to compliment your blacksmith.

Of course that's only covering some of your bases, without an outfitter.

No matter how many trades we put in, we can't stop you from trying to work your way up them on different characters.

But with how content-heavy and in-depth our crafting system is designed to be, it would take a significant amount of effort to level up all three trades to max. And even then, you aren't going to be able to make everything. With all the time you spent leveling up those other guys, it might have been easier to just make a deal with an artificer or just sell lots of your stuff to buy the parts you need if all you really want to do is play your blacksmith.

Though if someone wants to have three different characters in all three trades, by all means.

You are correct.

And indeed, there are no harvesting classes. Harvesting has skills to focus in.

I only mentioned a few aspects of the trade, hence the "etc."

Ships and furniture and houses are a major domain of the artificer, though other trades will probably be making furniture as well and their parts may be required for the larger projects.

The ship quest has not changed from the interview.

Is this something that's doable or is there some hinderance to learning recipies / allying with factions etc?

The player will have to make choices along their paths and when dealing with factions. You won't be able to master everything and ally with every faction.

Absolutely. In fact, that is encouraged. There will be content, challenges, and rewards in Qalia and Kojan for your Thestran jeweler.

I am excited though.

One of the main reasons we combined some of the trades was to make sure they all were robust and had their own set of items and role to fill.

Blacksmith can't make light armor, can't make workclothes, can't make bags/packs or bows/crossbows. And so on.

Though blacksmith has a lot to offer, so do the other trades.
