Oh, I did not mean people who did not know English well, just people whose first language was English. Which I guarantee you was most of these people.

If you've gone to any grade school in any primarly English-speaking country, there is no excuse for using "Ur" or "Thx" in an RPG especially, or really in any normal conversation.

I completely understand using it as a "universal language" until you got the hang of English.

As for abbreviations for spells and such, those are just annoying, and destroy RPing.

Granted, I will give that humans love to abbreviate stuff (CIA, EPA, DMV, BS, Dr., etc.), and if two mages of the same school of magic use abbrevations for common spells, that is believable. But to believe every peasant, farmer, and blacksmith and all the classes that shun magic know these abbreviations? That only makes sense if the world is extremely magical, and even then that's pushing it.

The SoW story
Now you see, that's the number one reason I stopped playing EQ. And I'm not talking about people asking you to do things, but about the complete lack of roleplaying. I had signed up for a ROELPLAYING game. Really, at the end of the day, it had no right being called an RPG, more like a 3rd person action game with RPG elements. People role-played as much as someone playing Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. And you can't even steal cars in EQ.

I had to quit, if I heard "SOW PLZ" or "sup" or "What lvl r u?" one more time I was going to go nova and destroy myself and everyone around me in a 5.8 mile radius.

That made me positively guffaw with laughter. Any story with the phrase "crazed sushi chef" in it is almost always good.
