Crestone: (crest-own) I grew up in a small mountain/ski town in Colorado born to parents live for hiking and climbing mountains etc, so from an early age, I was climbing mountains and became fascinated with climing all the 14ers (peaks over 14,000 feet) in Colorado. 2 of the hardest ones are the Crestones in the Sangre De Cristo range, so I started using the name Crestone for dwarven warriors in MUDs.

The other one I've used the most which is also derived from a 14er is Windom (typically a cleric). I also thought about using Uncompahgre because it's my favorite peak in Colorado, but that's just do much to type regularly.

Crestone Needle (14,197 ft):

And both together (they're connected on the same massif, but they're far enough apart and the drop between is enough that the needle is not a subsidiary by technicality):

Ohh.. well, that shows how much I know about my family history and roots. I have family going back into ever-changing Russia and England as well.

There is also a Nym Pymplee from Iron and Blood. Only one 'M' though.

Well, I started with "the". But by itself, that didn't inspire as much awe as I was originally going for. So then, in a flurry of creativity I plugged in the name of my old gnomish illusionist/thief D&D character I've been playing for years in MMOs and that everyone already knows me by.

But it still needed pizazz, so I did what you do when you need to add more awesome to something. I added gnome. Instant coolification. /nod

Well, my great-grandparents were Finnish. Er, I think. That could explain it.

Jansan is the character name I always use.

I actually made it up. I had never heard it used as a name before when I created it (I was pretty young at the time), but later I learned Jansen was an actual name. Awfully close, but that still wasn't my name.

Then, I later learned, Jansan is the name of a company that makes heavy duty cleaning supplies! Hehe. Still love the name though.

Interestingly enough, when I post or play a game and use this name, I will still have people that call me Jansen. I guess they just prefer the -en variety?
