In
real life, Raya is a professional writer and editor. She has worked
as a journalist in various aspects of the print
media, including newspapers and magazines, as well as for
television, radio, and video production (providing shooting scripts
for in-house training videos). Her articles have appeared in magazines
for children, parents, self-help aficionados, and law enforcement
officers.
In the gaming world, Raya began playing EverQuest when it first
came out in March 1999 and has continued to play it until recently.
She has also played other MMOs such as Dark Age of Camelot, Star
Wars Galaxies, A Tale in the Desert 1 and 2 (beta), and currently
World of Warcraft. Raya co-led a multi-game guild called Carillon
for two years on the Tunare server. A relative newcomer to the
electronic
media and online gaming networks, Raya worked for Warcry Network
News as both senior editor for online content and site manager
of the Vanguard Warcry fansite in 2004. She is presently working
with Silky Venom, an Affiliated Vanguard fan site, as News Manager
and Sigil Liaison.
Raya
lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Still an avid gamer, she spends
many of her evenings playing her favorite MMO and chatting with
friends in-game. Raya is also hard at work on her second novel,
which is entering the home stretch; her previous novel (WITCHCANERY)
will feature the cover artwork of Tom King and will hopefully
be available to the public in the next few months.
